Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RetroReader ("the App"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

License Agreement

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use RetroReader:

• Personal Use Only: For your personal, non-commercial reading and document management
• Single Device: On devices you own or control
• Compliance Required: In accordance with these Terms and applicable laws
• Revocable: This license may be terminated if you violate these Terms

Acceptable Use

You agree to use RetroReader only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. Specifically, you agree:

• To use the App for personal reading and document management only
• Not to use the App for any illegal, harmful, or inappropriate purposes
• Not to attempt to interfere with the App's functionality or security
• Not to use the App to violate any third-party rights
• To respect copyright laws when importing documents
• Not to share copyrighted content without proper authorization

App Features and Functionality

RetroReader currently provides the following features:

• Document Reading: Sentence-by-sentence text and PDF reading
• Retro Interface: Game Boy-inspired reading experience
• Bookmark System: Save and organize favorite sentences
• Quote Sharing: Generate and share quote images
• Local Storage: All data stored on your device
• File Import: Support for text files and PDFs

User Content and Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for the content you import and use within RetroReader:

Content Ownership

• You retain ownership of your personal documents and data
• You must have legal rights to any content you import
• We do not claim ownership of your content

Content Responsibilities

• Ensure you have permission to use copyrighted materials
• Do not import illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content
• Respect intellectual property rights of others
• Back up your important data regularly
• Be mindful when sharing quotes publicly

Technical Restrictions

You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App
• Distribute, redistribute, or resell the App
• Remove or alter copyright notices, branding, or proprietary markings
• Attempt to bypass security measures or access restrictions
• Use automated tools to extract data from the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's operation

Intellectual Property

RetroReader and all its components are protected by intellectual property laws:

• The App's design, code, and functionality are our property
• The RetroReader name, logo, and branding are our trademarks
• All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved
• Third-party content remains the property of respective owners

Updates and Modifications

We reserve the right to modify RetroReader and these Terms:

• App Updates: We may release updates that add, modify, or remove features
• Automatic Updates: Your device may automatically install updates
• Notification: Significant changes will be communicated through the App
• Continued Use: Using the App after updates constitutes acceptance
• Terms Updates: Changes to these Terms will be posted with an updated date

Disclaimer and Limitations

RetroReader is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis:

No Warranties

• We make no warranties about the App's performance or reliability
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
• Features may not work perfectly on all devices or operating systems

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Data loss, corruption, or inability to access your content
• Service interruptions or App malfunctions
• Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Issues arising from third-party content or services
• Problems caused by device compatibility or operating system issues

Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us:

• All your data is stored locally on your device
• We do not collect or transmit your personal documents

• You are responsible for backing up your data
• Uninstalling the App will remove all associated data

Termination

This agreement may be terminated:

• By You: Stop using the App and uninstall it from your device
• By Us: We may terminate your access for violations of these Terms
• Effect of Termination: Your license to use the App ends immediately
• Survival: Sections regarding intellectual property, limitations, and disputes survive termination

Third-Party Services

RetroReader may interact with third-party services:

• App stores (Apple App Store, Google Play) for distribution
• Operating system APIs for file access and sharing
• These services have their own terms and privacy policies
• We are not responsible for third-party service policies or practices

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law:

• This agreement is governed by the laws of your jurisdiction
• Disputes should first be resolved through good faith discussion
• You agree to resolve disputes through appropriate legal channels
• If any provision is found invalid, the remaining Terms continue in effect

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time:

• Material changes will be prominently disclosed
• The "Last updated" date will reflect any changes
• Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
• If you disagree with changes, discontinue use of the App

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RetroReader regarding your use of the App. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
